Getting the Last Word
There was no way we could close out 2018 without calling
attention to some of the notable quotes that made waves this month.
Though there are sure to be more quips, jabs, and high-profile
remarks in the new year, for now at least these headliners
are getting the last word.
"it is time for it to end"
Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) reacting to the GSEs' Q3 earnings statements and the current model of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
"shameful"
United Nations Special Rapporteur for Adequate Housing Leilani Farha on the global housing crisis of affordability.
"missed their chance"
Realty Check's Diana Olick commenting on the 2 million homeowners who
will face higher refinance fees due to not acting before mortgage rates rose.
"ongoing"
Wells Fargo on its effort to identify instances in which customers may have been denied loan modifications in error.
In November, the company reported an additional 870 loan holders impacted.
"did not come down on
a tablet, engraved"
Edward Pinto, Co-director of American Enterprise Institute's Center on Housing Markets and Finance, on the fact that while the
30-year, fixed-rate mortgage makes up the majority of U.S. loans that doesn't mean it's the best option.
