TH E M R EP O RT | 13 MCROWD BRIAN P. BROOKS KARIN J. KIMBROUGH Fannie Mae announced that Brian P. Brooks and Karin J. Kimbrough have been elected to its Board of Directors. The agency stated that the two new directors "are respected and knowledgeable business leaders in the technology and financial services sectors. They join other similarly dynamic and accom- plished individuals on a Board of Directors that continues guiding Fannie Mae in its drive to be America's most valued housing partner." Jonathan Plutzik, Chairman of the Board, said, "I am pleased to welcome Karin and Brian to the Fannie Mae Board of Directors. We will benefit greatly from their unique insights and perspective as the company delivers on its mission to provide liquidity to the mortgage market and support access to credit and affordable housing for families across the country." Kimbrough previously served as Assistant Treasurer for Google since October 2017. Brooks served as the Chief Legal Officer of Coinbase Global, Inc. beginning in September 2018. LEGAL KELLY GRING Tromberg Law Group, one of the largest woman-owned creditor firms in Florida, is expanding into Virginia with a new office located in the heart of Richmond, Virginia. To assist, Tromberg brought on Kelly Gring, an attorney based in Richmond. Gring has spoken on numerous panels and in other continuing legal education seminars. She is licensed to practice in the Supreme Court of Virginia and the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, as well as in the Eastern and Western District Bankruptcy Courts of Virginia, and she became licensed to practice law in the state of Georgia in 2016. She is a seasoned litigator and has appeared in most of Virginia's 133 state courts, the Eastern District of Virginia, and both the Eastern and Western District of Virginia Bankruptcy Courts with regularity. Gring has been practicing in the field of creditors' rights since 2008. GREGORY J. SANDA Schiller, Knapp, Lefkowitz & Hertzel, LLP announced the promotion of Gregory J. Sanda to its Partner ranks. Sanda is jointly responsible for the firm's complex foreclosure litigation and eviction departments. His practice also focuses on commercial mortgage foreclosures, appellate work, and commercial litigation. For several years, Sanda has instructed on all topics related to foreclosure and has presented at various industry events on developments in foreclosure law, post-foreclosure issues, including eviction, the FDCPA, and other debt collection law and regulation. He is admitted to practice in New York, and is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Creditors' Association of Upstate New York. Sanda's promotion aligns with the firm's ongoing commitment to strengthening its organizational infrastructure and leadership ranks, while continuing to provide the highest quality legal services. MARISSA M. YAKER Padgett Law Group (PLG) announced that Marissa M. Yaker has been promoted to Managing Attorney over the firm's multi-state foreclosure practice. The promotion includes the firm's foreclosure practices in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Texas. In her new role, Yaker will specifically focus on FHA timelines, general processing timelines, and client education related to foreclosure changes, updates, and news across PLG's multi-state footprint. Yaker's legal practice is primarily focused on creditors' rights and foreclosure. In previous management roles, Yaker has managed first legal in a multistate footprint as well as foreclosure and title curative practices in Florida. Yaker is regularly featured in industry publications such as DS News and has represented the firm on industry panels and in national advocacy efforts such as the Legal League 100's recent United States Supreme Court amicus brief in Obduskey v. McCarthy Holthus, LLP. PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS BRIAN A. SIMON Lenders One Cooperative, a national alliance of independent mortgage bankers based in St. Louis, Missouri, announced the appointment of Brian A. Simon as its new President. In this role, Simon will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and strategic execution of the cooperative. Simon joins Lenders One with more than 20 years' mortgage experience and has an extensive background in C-level leadership at large independent mortgage banks, including New Penn Financial, Caliber Funding, and Freedom Mortgage. "Brian brings deep industry experience to Lenders One as a seasoned mortgage banker and entrepreneur," said William B. Shepro, CEO at Altisource and member of the Board of Directors at Lenders One. "His vision and leadership in managing large mortgage organizations through economic cycles will help Lenders One leverage the power of its 230+ lender members and solution providers to compete and win." NON-PROFITS JULIA GORDON The National Community Stabilization Trust (NCST) announced that its board of directors has appointed Julia Gordon as President. Gordon said, "I am honored and excited to lead NCST. High-quality, well-rehabbed or maintained single-family homes can help neighborhoods become stronger and more economically vibrant through homeownership and locally owned, responsibly managed, affordable rental. By supporting the responsible disposition of foreclosed homes, assisting mission-focused single-family developers, and working with policymakers to ensure these properties and issues are not overlooked, NCST can make a significant difference for families and communities." Before coming to NCST, Gordon served as the Senior Director of Housing and Consumer Finance at the Center for American Progress, as well as working as the Single-Family Policy Manager at the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
