Out of Breath
Home prices took off like a bullet train in 2013, increasing
by wide margins, but as the weather began to cool
so did the increase. CoreLogic found that, excluding
distressed sales, home prices creeped forward by 0.4
percent from September to October 2013. CoreLogic's
CEO noted that the "housing market appears to be
catching its breath." These cities led the nation in home
price increases, and by looking at the most recent
Census Bureau data, increased building permits and
declining vacancy rates are part of the reason why.
