TH E M REP O RT | 23 D anielle Washburn's ascension isn't a sole result of hard work, drive, and dedication. Woven into her rise in corporate America are the memories that have colored her life and given her a deep responsibility to serve the housing industry with integrity. As a young bride in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Washburn and her new husband purchased a small house, one that wasn't quite finished at the time. Their imaginations ran wild. It was at that house that the two, excited at the prospect of building a life together, meticulously picked out every last little detail, and she loved it. Unlike so many other new couples just starting out, she had the chance to make their first home into their dream home. Now, as SVP of Asset Management at Carrington Property Services, Washburn, a 17-year veteran of the default servicing industry with experi- ence including loss mitigation and REO management, is responsible for managing the day-to-day op- erations in conjunction with the strategic direction of the company, managing client expectations and relationships, and assisting with the development of new business opportunities and services. Since joining the Carrington Property Services team in September, 2013, Washburn has enhanced and expanded all of the operational and exception-reporting capabilities, implemented new per- formance metrics, and most notably increased third-party scorecard performance by over 20 percent. Prior to joining CPS, Washburn was Vice President of REO at Nationstar Mortgage (aka Solutionstar) where she was responsible for managing the day to day Pre-Marketing, Eviction, Tenant Management, Marketing, Title and Closing operations. While at Nationstar, Washburn created exception and per- formance reporting to ensure timeline compliance while also creating increased transparency and accountability. She is experi- enced in client relations, portfolio and performance management, process flows, and system devel- opment. Prior to Nationstar, she held various positions at Lender Processing Services in the Asset Management division and home equity servicing. Washburn's laser focus on creating optimal conditions for full market recovery comes from years of training for a higher goal. She was a member of the 1992 United States Olympic team where she earned a Bronze Medal in taekwondo. The five tenets of Tae Kwon Do, courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit, guide the sport and give direction to its partici- pants. Likewise, her training pre- pared her to overcome challenges and obstacles such as the ones she faced at her first job. "I was at an entry-level posi- tion, but I wanted to move up in the organization," Washburn said. "The managers said 'no, you're not ready for that kind of thing' and it was disappointing, but I learned to take a step back and reevalu- ate what I need to change in my approach and to execute." Taking a step back to reevaluate in the face of adversity is an art form that Danielle has mastered. Needless to say, she ultimately achieved the goal of moving up in the industry, and more. Washburn has developed into a major player in the field, respected by men and women alike. She never stopped working to better herself by reevaluating when necessary to keep climbing to the top. She's confident that women can do the same in the boardroom and at home. "I think that the future looks really bright there," she said. "I think as long as women are focused on their goals and objec- tives and work hard to achieve them, things will work out." POWER PLAYERS Special Section Danielle WASHBURN "I think as long as people are just focused on their goals and objectives and work towards those things, things will work out."
