Prior to this role he served as a senior advisor at HUD. Golding, who joined HUD in June 2013, held several senior positions during a 23-year tenure with Freddie Mac, including SVP of Economics and policy, program Executive of Making Home Affordable, SVP of Economics and Strategic Analysis, and SVP of Capital Oversight and Economics. He joined Freddie Mac as a senior economist in 1989. He has an A.B. in applied mathematics from Harvard College and a PH.D. in economics from Princeton university. "Ed has been an invaluable adviser to me during my time as Secretary, and I'm confident that his experience and vision will be an incredible asset to FHA and the Office of Housing." —Julian Castro HUD Secretary daniEl GardnEr Freddie Mac has hired Daniel Gardner as the company's Single Family VP of Affordable Lending and Access to Credit. Gardner, who the company says is a "long time champion of affordable lending in the mortgage finance industry," officially joined on March 30th. Gardner has held leadership positions at the National Community Stabilization Trust and the affordable lending operation at some of the nation's leading mortgage lenders. This experience is why Freddie Mac believes Gardner will bring significant experience and a great depth of knowledge to the role. "In the coming year, restoring confidence in the first-time homebuyer market will be a issue for both lenders and customers." —Daniel Gardner * * * Patrick SinkS Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corp. (MGIC) Investment Corporation wel- comed Patrick Sinks as the new CEO, after Curt S. Culver, 62, retired. Sinks has also been appointed to the board of directors. The same changes were implemented at MGIC MTG's principal subsidiary. Sinks was previously presi- dent and COO of both companies. Culver * * * robin GilmorE Parkside Lending has hired Robin Gilmore as EVP of operational strategy with responsibility for overseeing the build-out of infrastructure and tools needed for the company's expansion. She brings more than 23 years of experience in the industry to her position and has a B.S. in accounting from the University of Maryland. Gilmore's background includes positions with Kinecta, LoanDepot, Fannie Mae, and Countrywide. * * * Joanna bErGEr In addition, Parkside Lending has hired Joanna Berger as underwriting manager for Parkside. Berger brings 33 years' experience in the lending business to Parkside Lending, including work in underwriting, collections, escrow accounts, closings, regional training, sales, and risk management. "I'm very excited about the opportunity to make a difference and be a contributing factor in Parkside Lending's success," Berger said. "It's rejuvenating to be working for a company that strives to be the best." * * * tony ward Tony Ward, former chief executive of Britannic Money and a leading figure in the UK finance sector, has been appointed as president and chief executive of Clayton Euro Risk Limited. Ward's appointment, made by the board of Clayton Euro Risk's U.S. parent company Clayton Holdings, began in April. Ward joins Clayton Euro Risk from Home Funding, which he led from 2006– 2015. During his 40-year career he was a founder of Kleinwort Benson's innovative mortgage originating and securitization business, Mortgage Funding Corporation PLC. * * * cathlEEn SchrEinEr GatES Ellie Mae has announced the pro- motion of Cathleen Schreiner Gates to EVP of sales and marketing. Schreiner Gates has served as SVP of sales and client ser- vices since February 2012, overseeing all sales, client management, profes- sional services, customer support, and training. Schreiner Gates holds an MBA in finance from the Rutgers Graduate School of Management and a BA in French literature from Douglass College—Rutgers University. * * * JoSEPh tyrrEll In addition, Ellie Mae has promoted Joseph Tyrrell to EVP of corporate strategy. Tyrrell has been with Ellie Mae since 2002 and most recently held the position of SVP of corporate strategy, overseeing Ellie Mae's business and cor- porate development efforts involving the company's network of current and potential business partners and merger Who's moving on and who's moving up in the industry This month some of the industry's largest companies saw some significant additions to their corporate lineup.
