MNOTES State of the Industry What Does 2016 Have in Store for Mortgage Professionals? A s we embark on a new year, it's important that we take stock of the health of the mortgage industry and housing markets. To do so, we've reached out to experts and industry veterans from all segments of the industry to get a true account of what to expect in the year ahead. In "Recovery's Shallow Roots," MReport examines what it means to say the industry is "recovered." Now that we are eight years post-recession, hopes are high that we are finally entering a period where the troubles of the past no longer plague the future. But while the media says the market is bouncing back, many experts believe we're not on solid ground quite yet. Hear from au - thorities in lending, servicing, academia, and more and get their candid analyses of the market. Next, in "The Age of the Virtual Handshake," Sue Woodward, president and CEO of Vantage Production, urges lenders to embrace millennial ideologies rather than fear the changes they rep - resent. "We know that this tech-savvy crowd is coming, so how can anyone ignore the mandate to be ready with the automation and mobility they de- mand?" Woodward posits. Then the valuation industry gets an in-depth look in "The Valuation Conundrum." In this multi-part article, valuation experts examine different facets of the industry and give their advice for the coming year. First, William Fall, founder and CEO of William Fall Group and its AMC subsidiary, Valuation Partners, lays out the top three challenges facing today's appraiser. Next, new tech - nology opportunities are examined by Jordan Petkovski, VP and chief appraiser at TSI Appraisal, and Jordan Wilde, VP of sales and marketing at First Valuation. Lastly, Vladimir Bien-Aime, CEO and co-founder of Global DMS, discusses the FHA's new Electronic Appraisal Delivery portal and the changes it presents to do - ing business. Of course, once you are fully versed in the changes in the valuation indus- try, be sure to check out our special Property Valuation Guide to learn more about today's property valuation leaders.
