10 | TH E M R EP O RT MCROWD MICHAEL STEGMAN Michael Stegman, who currently serves as the National Economic Council (NEC)'s top housing adviser at the White House, is stepping down from that position, a Treasury spokesperson confirmed to MReport. Treasury confirmed to MReport that Stegman will be leaving the White House to briefly rejoin Treasury, where he worked for four years before joining the NEC. During his four years with Treasury, he played a key role coordinating Treasury's activities relating to the development of housing finance policy. Two areas in which his efforts were concentrated where expanding credit access for mortgages and GSE reform. GRACE DAILEY The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency announced Grace Dailey will be assuming the roles of Senior Deputy Comptroller for Bank Supervision Policy and Chief National Bank Examiner. Dailey will direct the formulation of policies and procedures for supervising and examining national banks and federal savings associations in her new role. She will serve on the agency's Executive Committee and Committee on Bank Supervision. Dailey previously served as a National Bank Examiner, Assistant Deputy Comptroller in Midsize and Community Bank Supervision, Examiner-in-Charge of two of the nation's largest banks, and Deputy Comptroller for Large Bank Supervision. MONIKA MCCARTHY CrossCheck Compliance hired Monika McCarthy as Managing Director and General Counsel to help expand the company's presence nationally. While the company is headquartered in Chicago, she will be based in Southern California. McCarthy joins the company from Stonegate Mortgage, bringing a background in all phases of mortgage lending, including origination, compliance, fair lending, regulatory affairs, litigation, secondary market transactions, and claims resolution. She has also worked at Cove Financial Group, Stearns Lending, and New Century Mortgage Corp. GROVETTA GARDINEER Grovetta Gardineer will fill the newly created position of Senior Deputy Comptroller for Compliance and Community Affairs at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Gardineer will serve as a member of the agency's Executive Committee and Committee on Bank Supervision. She will oversee compliance exams of national banks and federal savings associations and will manage the agency's Community Affairs and Community Reinvestment Act programs. In addition, Gardineer retains her responsibilities for policy and examination procedures relating to consumer issues and anti-money laundering. She will continue to represent the OCC on interagency groups and activities related to compliance, CRA, fair lending, and the Bank Secrecy Act. MICHAEL BENDER Stonegate Mortgage Corp., announced that Michael Bender has returned to the company and been named East Regional Manager. In this role, he will lead the East region's third-party origination sales teams, selling products in the company's four TPO channels– broker, non-delegated correspondent, delegated correspondent, and bulk mandatory. Bender has over 10 years' experience in the mortgage industry. Most recently, he worked as Regional Sales Director at ACH Trust, a division of Towne Mortgage. Previously, he served as Business Development Manager at Stonegate Mortgage, as well as Business Development Manager at ICBA Mortgage and Regional Manager at Genworth Home Equity. KRISTIN HENKE ClosingCorp added Kristin Henke as Senior Director of Operations. In this position, Henke will be responsible for coordinating the design, implementation, and maintenance of programs in support of rate, fee, and client- specific data collection as well as architecting the infrastructure for some of ClosingCorp's most strategic title underwriter partnerships. Henke joins ClosingCorp from Wells Fargo, where she held a series of high level positions including most recently, VP, Business Liaison Consultant for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. There she assumed the role of a third- party risk relationship manager for title underwriter vendors ensuring appropriate governance, policy management, and program oversight to mitigate risk for the company. BOB DOUGHERTY Bob Dougherty joins Calyx Software as the new VP of Business Development. Dougherty's new position will require him to develop Calyx Software's overall partner strategy, build relationships with key mortgage industry influencers and vendors, and increase interface usage and revenues. In Dougherty's 20 years' operational and business development experience in the mortgage industry, he was most recently the VP of Mortgage Operations at Merchants Bank in Winona, Minnesota. There, he led operation and secondary marketing functions for its mortgage banking division. Before that, he was EVP at Boom Brother Commercial Capital. Dougherty also served as CEO at Timberland Mortgage Services, a former lender and underwriter for residential mortgage loans. Who's moving on and who's moving up in the industry This month some of the industry's largest companies saw significant additions to their corporate lineup.
