MNOTES A new chapter is unfolding in the mortgage industry—and with it a vast potential for new plot twists, innovative resolutions, and endless capacity for hope. While the industry waits on bated breath for po- tential regulatory changes, we put the spotlight on another vehicle for indus- try transformation this month: technology. We examine the enormous role technology will play in the future of our industry, as well as other important components of our collective future, such as inclusive hiring practices. In our cover story, "Launching New Technology," Brian A. Lee takes us through the broad dimensions of the tech world, examining how Big Data, artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, and robotic process automation can tremendously change the mortgage industry. After seeing into the future through the lens of technology, "The Future Is Female," applies the lens of diversity with author Debora Aydelotte laying out a process for adopting inclusive business practices. Next, we take a look at the immediate future in "Setting Up for Spring," where Jennifer Miller reviews steps lenders can take to prepare for the busy spring season. Then, gain insight into the millennial mind with "Buying Power, Brain Power" by Ben Madick, which takes a look at how attracting a strong mil- lennial workforce is the key to future success in the industry. Also in this month's issue, we introduce you to some of the star players in the technology sector—those who will be delivering important solutions as we move further into this new chapter in our industry.
