For this year's Women in Housing list, our editors combed through hundreds of
nominations from across the industry. On one hand, that makes our job of picking
this year's crop of featured women a lot easier. We have a huge talent pool from
which to draw. But therein lies the rub: With so many estimable females at the
helm, it was challenging to distill it down to a select set.
How did we do it? We culled the nominee list into three distinct categories:
Power Players, comprised of C-suite and other topmost executives touting a
decades-long industry tenure and a proven track record to match; Leading
Ladies, a group of venerable virtuosos who lay claim to an impressive
array of accomplishments in their respective fields; and Emerging
Leaders, featuring female up-and-comers 35 years of age and
younger who, even in the nascent years of their careers, are
quickly making a name for themselves. Again, choosing our
honorees was no small feat. We discussed and
deliberated—and repeated it some more—until
we finally had our honorees.
