On one hand, that makes our job of picking this year's crop of featured women a lot easier. We have a huge talent pool from which to draw. But therein lies the rub: With so many estimable females at the helm, it was challenging to distill it down to a select set. How did we do it? We culled the nominee list into three distinct categories: Power Players, comprised of C-suite and other topmost executives touting a decades-long industry tenure and a proven track record to match; Leading Ladies, a group of venerable virtuosos who lay claim to an impressive array of accomplishments in their respective fields; and Emerging Leaders, featuring female up-and-comers 35 years of age and younger who, even in the nascent years of their careers, are quickly making a name for themselves. Again, choosing our honorees was no small feat. We discussed and deliberated—and repeated it some more—until we finally had our honorees.
