WASHINGTON D.C. // OneWest Bank's former vice chairman and chief legal officer, Brian P. Brooks, joined Fannie Mae as EVP, general counsel, and cor- porate secretary, according to an announcement from the GSE. Brooks has more than two decades of legal and business experience,. In his dual roles at OneWest, he advised executive management and the board of directors on all key legal, risk, and strategic issues. He also developed and implemented strategies to manage litigation and government inquiries and led the bank's compliance efforts in accordance with regulatory orders on mortgage servicing and foreclosures. Prior to his tenure at OneWest, Brooks was a man- aging partner at O'Melveny & Myers, a global law firm, where he led an office of more than 150 attorneys and played a role in formulating the banking industry's response to the recent foreclosure crisis. "Brian has an impressive background in business and law, and is deeply credentialed in financial services and hous- ing finance," said Timothy J. Mayopoulos, Fannie Mae's president and CEO. "Brian is an outstanding complement to our leadership team as we focus on supporting the economic recov- ery, improving our company, and building a sustainable hous- ing finance system." Freddie mac's Board elects new member seasoned banking executive expected to bring 'valuable insights' to the gse's leadership council. VIRGINIA // Freddie Mac's board of directors gained a new member, with mortgage banking and finance veteran Thomas M. Goldstein elected to the role. Goldstein has worked in a vari- ety of senior executive positions at a number of prominent companies throughout his career, including his most recent stint as SVP and CFO of the protection division of Allstate Insurance Company from April 2011 to June 2014. He also worked for LaSalle Bank Corporation, serving as chairman, CEO, and president of ABN AMRO Mortgage Group from 2005–2007 and as CFO of LaSalle Bank Corp. from 2002–2004. Previously, he spent 10 years with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter in various roles, includ- ing VP and head of finance, risk management, model develop- ment, and investor relations for SPS Transaction Services. "Tom will be an excellent ad- dition to the Freddie Mac board of directors," said Christopher S. Lynch, Freddie Mac's non- executive chairman. "He is an experienced senior executive with demonstrated leadership skills and a deep understand- ing of mortgage banking and risk management practices. We expect Tom to bring valuable insights to the board during a critical time for the national housing finance industry."
