PAUL COMPTON, JR., SUZANNE ISRAEL TUFTS, LEONARD WOLFSON, IRVING DENNIS The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has four new top leaders who are taking on key roles in the agency at the start of 2018 and dur- ing a critical recovery period following last year's devas- tating hurricanes. HUD Secretary Ben Carson administered the oath of office to the following individuals recently confirmed by the U.S. Senate: J. Paul Compton, Jr. to be- come HUD's General Counsel; Suzanne Israel Tufts to be Assistant Secretary for the Office of Administration; Leonard Wolfson as Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations; and Irving Dennis to serve as Chief Financial Officer. "Today, our bench got a lot deeper," said Secretary Carson. "These four outstanding individuals bring substantial experi- ence to HUD at a moment when our Department is being called upon to excel as we support millions of our fellow citizens recovering from Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria." JACQUELINE WELCH McLean, Virginia- headquartered, Freddie Mac, has appointed Jacqueline M. Welch as head of the Human Resources, Diversity & Inclusion (HRDI) division and Chief Diversity Officer (CDO). In her expanded role, Welch will be a member of the company's senior operating committee and will report directly to Freddie Mac CEO Donald H. Layton. As head of HR, Welch will be responsible for all HR functions, including performance management, compensation, and learning and development. In her role as CDO, Welch will lead Freddie Mac's diversity and inclusion strategy for its workforce and supplier diversity programs, as well as across business activities. "It's vitally important that we enable our diverse perspectives to drive the execution of the company's top goals of building a better company and a better housing finance system. I'm excited by the work that Freddie Mac has already done to foster an organizational culture that competes and wins, and I'm ready to push that strategy forward," said Welch. KIRSTEN SUTTON MORK In January, Kirsten Sutton Mork was named Chief of Staff of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). This appointment fills the position last held by Leandra English. In her new role, Mork will be joining another previous Jeb Hensarling aide, Brian Johnson, who took a job as senior adviser to Mick Mulvaney from his previous role as senior counsel of the U.S. House Financial Services Committee (HFSC). In addition, Hensarling himself has been named as a possible permanent replacement as CFPB Director. On the HFSC, Shannon McGahn will succeed Mork, leaving her position as Counselor to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. LENDERS/SERVICERS MARIA ZUBER Bank of America announced that it has appointed Dr. Maria Zuber to the Enterprise Risk and Corporate Governance Committees of the Bank of America Board of Directors, effective immediately. Upon the appointment, Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan said, "Dr. Zuber brings to our board diverse perspectives in several areas, including technology and risk management. We look forward to benefiting from her unique talents and experience." Zuber, 59, currently serves as the E. A. Griswold Professor of Geophysics and the VP for Research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she is responsible for research administra- tion and policy. In 2002, Discover magazine named Zuber one of the 50 most important women in science, and in 2008, she was named to the U.S. News & World Report/Harvard Kennedy School Center for Public Leadership List of America's Best Leaders. IAN MILLER Mortgage Capital Trading, Inc. (MCT), a San Diego, California-based mortgage hedge advisory and secondary marketing software firm, announced that Ian Miller has joined the company as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). In this newly created position, he is responsible for ensuring that MCT's marketing strategy effectively supports the company's business plan and helps drive growth. Miller is charged with developing and executing MCT's marketing plan and strategic initiatives. Before MCT, Miller served as the Director of Client Services at Riverine, Inc., a full-service digital marketing firm catering to over 50 clients in a wide range of industries and capacities.
