In this MI report, researchers Michael Hendrix and Don Boyd examine how the rise of remote work during the pandemic will impact the makeup of the economy of cities. "While we can't predict how many workers will return to their offices after the pandemic ends, many will likely continue to work remotely. Even a small share of the workforce staying remote, to some degree, post-pandemic would have a large and lasting impact on the makeup of local economies such as New York's," the report notes.
