That's the kind of initiative I want to be a part of. M // What do you feel are the main challenges mortgage pro- fessionals will need to prepare for as we look ahead to 2019? MCDOUGALL //The pressures of margin compression, continuous regulatory changes, and ever- evolving technology solutions to meet consumer needs are at the top of the list. This is the new normal and being profitable while remaining compliant and adding value for customers will be a constant strategic focus. From a strategic perspective, you must clearly define roadmaps and choose partners who can provide new technology tools and who offer options to lower infrastruc - ture costs, reduce cycle times, and improve the customer experience. Financially, there must be discipline around investment dol- lars which provides the expected return and allows a company to reduce operational risks and create an excellent customer experience. Attracting the best talent will continue to be a focus for our industry in 2019 and beyond as we build the structures for future business and industry success. And finally, I think about the disrupters to the mortgage model– I'm not sure anyone knows ex - actly where they will come from, but I think it is safe to say that the industry will be a different place in the next five years.
